Originally designed during the 1930s by eminent architect and designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The ‘Brno chair’ (as it became known) very quickly became another critically acclaimed modern furniture Classic with its beautiful and elegant cantilever design coupled with high quality raw materials. It features a flat polished seemless stainless steel frame which is bent into a C-shape from the middle of the back round to the the ground to create a cantilever and in the process providing arms on the sides of the chair. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was one of the greatest pioneers of 20th Century modern architecture. His architectural style was a combination of simplicity and clarity (particularly with glass and steel) that heralded a new era in building design and his influence can still be seen in many new projects today.
