Originally designed during the 1930s by eminent architect and designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The ‘Brno chair’ (as it became known) very quickly became another critically acclaimed modern furniture Classic with its beautiful and elegant cantilever design coupled with high quality raw materials. It features a flat polished seemless stainless steel frame which is bent into a C-shape from the middle of the back round to the the ground to create a cantilever and in the process providing arms on the sides of the chair. This is married to a cushioned black leather seat which is upholstered in high quality Italian leather. This versatile chair is still a design classic and sits well as an office or elegant dining chair, or even as an occasional living room chair. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was one of the greatest pioneers of 20th Century modern architecture. His architectural style was a combination of simplicity and clarity (particularly with glass and steel) that heralded a new era in building design and his influence can still be seen in many new projects today.
